For Dream Studio, WeChoice Awards 2017 was not just an award ceremony, but a stage created to elevate emotions to the highest standard of performance art. Carrying the theme “Live Calmly”, the event was conceived as a journey to honor inspiring people, where each performance not only illustrated a story but became a part of that story itself.
The biggest challenge of the project lay in balancing the entertainment aspect of a large-scale award ceremony and the emotional depth of real-life stories. Instead of letting the honoring segments take place independently, since Dream Studio participated in the production, the entire program was developed following a seamless, continuous structure. By connecting music, stage, images, and inspiring characters through the language of contemporary expressive art, the show guided the audience's emotions throughout from beginning to end.
The stage space was designed as a highly symbolic visual structure, with a large-scale LED screen system playing a central role in the entire experience. The highlight of the stage lay in the design layout: a main LED screen in the middle anchoring the primary visual storytelling, combined with two LED screens on both sides designed according to the program's visual identity - evoking the shape of the WeChoice logo itself. This arrangement created a modern, balanced overall stage that established instant brand recognition from the very first glance.
One of the most memorable moments of the program was the performance between young pianist Bom and pop icon Son Tung M-TP, where music connected two people who had never met. The piano sound of Bom - a boy born in 2002 with Apert syndrome who had persistently fought against his illness for 15 years along with his father, artist Quoc Tuan - blended seamlessly with the Son Tung M-TP’s vocals. On stage, 50 people representing different fates, searched out by the production team from train stations, boat docks, eateries, and many ordinary corners of life, joined their voices to honor the beauty of their own lives. Without the need for elaborate staging, the stage was left with only music, lighting, and emotions, letting the story of resilience, love, and faith in life spread most sincerely.
It is this combination of artistic value and content depth that created the unique identity of the WeChoice Awards event series created by Dream Studio, where the stage was not only to honor achievements but also to spread humanistic values to the community. Through WeChoice Awards 2017, Dream Studio continued to pursue the orientation of developing events with social impact, where performance art becomes a powerful medium to connect emotions, inspire, and create positive values and influence beyond the scope of an award night.
