SUNSET TOWN PHU QUOC NEW YEAR COUNTDOWN 2023 - JOURNEY OF HAPPINESS

“New Year Countdown 2023 – Journey of Happiness” was a New Year’s Eve destination event developed by Dream Studio in collaboration with Sun Group at Sunset Town, Phu Quoc. The project also served as the opening chapter of Sun Group’s WOW Vietnam campaign. Prepared over the course of nearly three months, including two months of concept development and one month of rehearsals and production, the program was designed as an emotional journey that reflected on the past year. 

Rather than approaching the event as a conventional music festival, Dream Studio chose to tell a story of renewal, resilience, and future aspirations. Through three narrative chapters: Welcoming the Sunrise, Towards the Sun, and The Journey of Happiness, the program guided audiences through the emotional landscapes of a transformative year while conveying the optimism and momentum of a Vietnam entering a new stage of growth.

A defining feature of the project was its multi-location performance concept, which connected the water stage of “Kiss The Stars - Kiss among a thousand stars” with a series of performance spaces integrated into Sunset Town’s signature Mediterranean-inspired architecture. This approach not only expanded the audience experience but also highlighted the destination’s landmark hospitality and real estate developments. The fusion of lighting, water effects, fire, laser technology, and multimedia transformed Sunset Town into a large-scale open-air performance venue, delivering an entertainment experience on an international level.

The event brought together a diverse lineup of artists, including Tung Duong, Van Mai Huong, Bui Lan Huong, Hoang Ton, Wren Evans, Vu Thao My, and OPlus, alongside more than 70 international performers featured in the opening act  “Chasing The Sun”. The evening concluded with a spectacular fireworks display over the sea at Anh Duong Square, set against the backdrop of the Kiss Bridge, one of Phu Quoc’s newest architectural and tourism landmarks.

Through New Year Countdown 2023 – Journey of Happiness, Dream Studio continued the pursuit of creating experiences that foster meaningful emotional connections within communities. The project also reflected a broader ambition to position Vietnam’s tourism destinations as cultural and entertainment hubs capable of delivering world-class experiences on the global stage.
