ABOUT

"The Journeys" marked the first solo live show of Tung Duong's career and was the culmination of a multi-year collaboration between the singer and director Viet Tu. After nearly a decade in the industry, Tung Duong had established a distinct musical identity, constantly exploring new paths across contemporary folk, jazz, electronic, world music, and avant-garde experimentation. Dream Studio approached the project as a concert theatre, where the artist's creative journey was told through the language of his own music.

Inspired by the encounters, relationships, and musical milestones that have shaped Tung Duong, the show was structured as a musical memoir. Twenty-two songs were woven into a continuous narrative, guiding the audience through different stages of the singer's creative evolution—from his early work with Le Minh Son, Do Bao, and Tran Tien to his contemporary musical explorations and ventures beyond Vietnam's borders.

What made "The Journeys" unique was Dream Studio’s choice of restraint over theatrical gimmicks. The Hanoi Opera House retained its classic performance atmosphere, with sound and lighting systems designed with a minimalist, focused, and profound aesthetic. LED screens were not used for constant effects but served as visual art layers that complemented each musical mood, allowing the stage space to shift in harmony with the show's emotional arc. Free from variety-show structures or unnecessary spectacle, Dream Studio ensured that Tung Duong’s eccentric personality, avant-garde spirit, and capacity for transcendence remained the heart of the experience.

For Dream Studio, "The Journeys" stands as a pivotal project in the development of concert production in Vietnam. The show demonstrated that a live performance can be crafted through minimalism, musical depth, and intentional staging, where the stage does not overshadow the artist but instead provides a space for their personality and artistic journey to be fully revealed.
