ABOUT

Music Window No. 1 - "My Stories" was developed as an artistic musical space where the refined values of composer Duong Thu's works take center stage. For Dream Studio, this presented a unique challenge: how to create a program that is elegant, modern, and profound without letting the stage overshadow the music.

Instead of approaching the live show with a performance language heavy on effects, Dream Studio chose to return the stage to the classic structure of a concert. Duong Thu - My Stories was designed as a contemplative space where music plays the leading role and all visual elements are restrained to support the listening experience. This project clearly demonstrates the difference between a minimalist stage and a sparse one—where reducing details does not mean compromising aesthetic standards or production quality.

The highlight of the program lies in how Dream Studio utilized static imagery and spatial depth rather than large-scale motion effects. The screen system was employed as a layer of visual architecture, providing a backdrop for the music without becoming the focal point of the experience. Notably, Vincent van Gogh's "Almond Blossoms" painting was used as an artistic medium to expand the stage space, creating an intersection between painting, music, and performance art.

As the first program in the Music Window series, the content was structured as an introspective narrative about Duong Thu. The 19 selected songs were not arranged chronologically, but rather connected by tone and emotion, with each artist serving as a musical storyteller. Thanh Lam, Hong Nhung, My Linh, Nguyen Thao, Tung Duong, Trong Tan, and Ha Linh, alongside the Anh Em Band and the Vietnam National Academy of Music Chamber Orchestra, contributed to recreating different facets of the composer's musical world.

For Dream Studio, Duong Thu - My Stories is a significant project in our journey of exploring the language of minimalist stage design. The program proves that a stage does not require massive scale or flashy effects to create value. When production thinking is applied correctly, the subtlety of music, space, and audience experience can create a work of art capable of inspiring many generations of artists and future quality music programs.
