LYNK FASHION SHOW 2014

Held at the Independence Palace, Lynk Fashion Show 2014 marked the first time a large-scale international haute couture fashion event was staged in Vietnam, featuring the participation of two renowned global designers: Toni Maticevski and Peet Dullaert. For Dream Studio, this was not just a fashion runway but an opportunity to create a dialogue between the language of global contemporary fashion and Vietnamese cultural identity.

In a context where most international fashion shows pursued an absolutely minimalist language, Dream Studio chose a different approach: infusing the “Modern Traditional” spirit into the performance space. The entire concept was built upon Vietnam's traditional artisanal values and interpreted through a contemporary design mindset, creating a stage that was both luxurious and culturally distinctive.

The highlight of the program was the tempered glass catwalk system, beneath which lay hundreds of traditional hand-gilded silver hoa tiên paper sheets, completely handcrafted by artisans. The stage decoration featured a cửa võng structure (traditional carved wooden archway), authentically scaled to replicate those in traditional Vietnamese temples and palaces, serving as the visual focal point for the entire space. The combination of glass, lighting, and artisanal materials created a layer of exquisite visual depth, honoring the beauty of the collections without overshadowing the haute couture spirit.

Executing the show at the Independence Palace posed many spatial and technical challenges, as the auditorium had a limited scale but had to fully meet the standards of an international runway. Dream Studio developed the entire stage layout to optimize viewing angles, catwalk proportions, and the guest experience, while satisfying all stringent requirements from international designers regarding performance conditions, lighting, and operations.

For Dream Studio, LYNK Fashion Show 2014 was one of the first projects that affirmed the creative philosophy of using Vietnamese culture as the foundation for international-standard experiences. Through the project, Dream Studio continued to pursue the direction of creating spaces where local identity does not oppose the global language, but rather becomes the element that creates distinctiveness and unique value for every experience.
