Sao Đại Chiến (Celebrity Battle) marked one of Dream Studio's typical television projects in the journey of bringing concert stage staging mindsets into a reality television format. The project excellently won the 2017 Dedication Award, which was the 5th Dedication Award for Dream Studio and Director Viet Tu.
Instead of seeing each competition round as an independent performance act, Dream Studio approached the program as a series of tailor-made live stages, where music, stage, lighting, fine arts, and visual language together participated in building a unique identity for each performing artist.
At the time of its launch, the original format of the program had not achieved much success in the international market. This posed a big problem that did not lie in producing an entertainment television program, but in creating a music experience different enough for the audience to remember. Dream Studio chose to develop the program in a direction that emphasized performance quality, turning each competition part into a complete live stage carrying the artist's own identity.
The entire visual language of the program was built following a highly painterly orientation inspired by many contemporary works and artists in the world. The color palettes, lighting, props, and stage spaces continuously changed according to each music producer and each artist. Each broadcast episode possessed its own visual world, allowing the audience to not only enjoy the music but also experience the stories told through the stage and images.
The special feature of Celebrity Battle lay in the fact that the program contributed to bringing the role of the music producer closer to the public. Breakthrough music arrangements, performance ideas, and music production language were placed at the center, creating a playground where creativity became the deciding factor. The program's influence was reflected when 5 out of 6 nominations for Music Producer of the Year came from the program itself. To date, many faces stepping out from Celebrity Battle have held key roles in large scale music projects such as Rap Viet, Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai, affirming the pioneering vision and long-lasting influence of the format on the Vietnamese music industry.
Through Celebrity Battle, Dream Studio pioneered a new approach to entertainment television programs, where each act was invested in as a complete live stage instead of a performance dedicated solely to television. The program enhanced the co-creative role of artists and the production team, from music and staging to performance language, so that each act became a work with its own identity. This mindset both contributed to laying the foundation for the production method of many music programs and festivals later on, and changed the concept of television: not just a broadcasting medium, but also a creative stage, where artistic ideas can be realized with the highest production quality and aesthetic values.
