WECHOICE AWARDS 2019 | “SMALL ACTS, EXTRAORDINARY IMPACT”

Over the years, WeChoice Awards has evolved far beyond a conventional awards ceremony to become one of Vietnam's most anticipated annual events, where social values, culture, and entertainment converge. More than simply presenting awards, the show has become renowned for creating stage-of-the-art performance stages designed specifically for each participating artist.

WeChoice Awards 2019 marked Dream Studio's third consecutive year collaborating with the event. Under the theme “Small Acts, Extraordinary Impact”, the Awards celebrated seemingly ordinary acts of kindness capable of creating meaningful change. For Dream Studio, the challenge was not to build a spectacular stage for its own sake, but to develop a creative language that could authentically express this message to thousands of people in the audience.

To bring this vision to life, Dream Studio introduced a 360-degree stage to a Vietnamese awards ceremony for the first time. The traditional boundary between performers and audience disappeared as the venue was transformed into an open, immersive environment where every viewing angle became part of the storytelling experience. A large-scale kinetic LED system - developed at a time when advanced rigging technology was still in its early stages in Vietnam - combined with an LED floor, multi-layered lighting design, immersive sound, and four-sided visual effects, has created a performance environment that continuously evolved throughout the evening.

The spirit of "Small Acts, Extraordinary Impact" was established from the very beginning of the ceremony. Instead of opening with a musical performance, the show began with a TED Talk-inspired presentation featuring environmental activist Hoang Thi Minh Hong and young changemaker Nguyen Nguyet Linh. Combined with contemporary dance and immersive 3D LED visuals, the opening introduced an unexpected and futuristic  for a large-scale entertainment event.

Upon that stage platform each performance was developed as its own visual universe. From underground music, hip-hop, and pop ballads to contemporary performance pieces, the dynamic LED system continuously restructured the space, delivering entirely different experiences while remaining unified within a continuous narrative.

For Dream Studio, WeChoice Awards 2019 was more than an awards ceremony or a concert. It was an exploration of how live performance can amplify the human values that unite a community, bringing together music, visual art, social issues, dreams, and inspiration within a single immersive experience.
